Retention Washers

Internal Retention Washer, Shaft Retention Washer

Definition: Shaft retention washers or internal retention washers are designed to retain items on a shaft or maintain a shaft in a particular position in an assembly. Shaft retention washers are permanent after assembly, but provide for quick assembly time by simply pushing the nut over the stud or shaft.

Internal Retention Washers are available in the following materials and finishes:

  • Spring Steel: Baking, Black Oxide, Cadmium types I & II, Chrome, Degreasing, Bright Nickel, Pickling, Phosphate, Silver, Bright Tin, Hot Tin Dip, and Zinc types I & II

External Retention Washer

Definition: External retention washer provides a simple means of retaining a loose component inside a bored hole in an assembly. External retention washers are permanent after assembly, but provide for quick assembly time by simply pushing the washer into the shaft.

External Retention Washers are available in the following materials and finishes:

  • Spring Steel: Baking, Black Oxide, Cadmium types I & II, Chrome, Degreasing, Bright Nickel, Pickling, Phosphate, Silver, Bright Tin, Hot Tin Dip, and Zinc types I & II
