Flat Retaining Washer
Definition:
Flat retaining washers are used in applications that need a guide for a chain, wire or cord attached to an assembly. They are designed with two holes – one for a screw or bolt to attach the flat retaining washer to the assembly and the second is to attach or guide a chain, wire or cord to that assembly.
Flat Retaining Washers are available in the following materials and finishes:
- Aluminum: Anodize, Cadmium types I & II, Degreasing, Bright Nickel, Pickling, Silver, Bright Tin, Hot Tin Dip, Zinc types I & II

Formed Retaining Washer
Definition:
Formed retaining washers are used in similar to flat retaining washers, except they are used in applications that require the guide to be formed to an angle from 15° to 90°. They have two holes – one for a screw or bolt to attach the flat retaining washer to the assembly and the second is to attach or guide a chain, wire or cord to that assembly.
