CNC Combo Set-up Operator



Job Summary

The CNC Combo Set-up Operator will program, set-up, and operate CNC machinery, perform machine maintenance, make operational adjustments, and perform parts inspections.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of machining tools and procedures.
  • Program writing and editing.
  • Load programs into the CNC controller and verify correect machine motions.
  • Load parts into the appropriate machinery, using the best available tooling methods.
  • Develop methods of machining new and dificult jobs.
  • Inspect product using precision measuring tools.
  • Product inspections at set-up and throughout the production run.
  • Monitor machine for unusual conditions.
  • Diagnose machine problems, make mechanical adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Provide machine maintenanceincluding lubricants and coolant levels.
  • Willing to train others.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner, keeping a clean work area and wearing proper protective equipment.
  • Cooperation with supervisor and co-worker, willing to work as a team.
  • Show by example: temperament, professionalism and teamwork.
  • Timely arrival and regular attendance at work.
  • Willing to work overtime.
  • Willing to work any shift.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated ability to perform moderate troubleshooting and machine setups. Skilled at properly inspecting and monitoring quality throughout production runs. Able to properly plan machining sequence including tooling selection and fixture preparation. Expected to seek continuous improvement in production efficiency. You may be required to possess or obtain hand tools or measuring equipment.
Technical Skills
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
Education and/or Experience
  • Associate degree/Technical certification or equivalent combination of education and experience in machining.
Language Skills
  • The ability to read, write and speak the English language with comprehension skills sufficient to understand safety standards and job performance expectations.
Mathematical Skills
  • Above average ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to interpret instructions which may be furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • None required.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed inside environmental conditions, noise, moving mechanical parts and may have air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
  • The noise level in the environment is loud.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to, handle, or grab; reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch push, and pull. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to wear safety toe shoes/boots for at least 8 hours a day, hearing protection, and eye protection.
